Like To Appreciate

There are times when I’m browsing through the reader, looking through the numerous posts that you Guys write everyday, where I laugh out loud or simply enjoy what I’ve read, then I reach for the like button (when I say reach I mean move the mouse, well you know what I mean) some pages are just so easy to like.

Then there are other posts, I’m sure I’ve written a few of these, that it is not easy to like, how can you click like when your reading about a friend’s pain, I don’t like my own pain so I certainly don’t want people I know to be in pain either.

Sometimes I just can’t find the words to leave a comment, I just can’t find a fitting response, but I want to let the writer know I’ve been there, I’m supporting them even though I can’t seem to express that in a comment.

But again liking someone’s pain, I’ve left pages where I just couldn’t put myself in their situation in order to put a fitting comment or been able to like the post, I’ve just left with no record that I’m with them, that I feel for them.  Sometimes I return later when I’ve got me head around the situation enough to leave some sort of comment, but not always.

I wish then that WordPress would change the Like button to something like Appreciate, I can appreciate good posts, funny posts, great poetry and also the painful entries, I can appreciate people’s pain but I can’t bring myself to like it.

For the time being I will try to post a comment or I will reluctantly click Like, just so you know I’m there supporting you.

When I can’t find the words, all you need to remember or these words, Trust In Jesus.

Trust in Jesus
My great Deliverer
My strong Defender
The Son of God
I trust in Jesus
Blessed Redeemer
My Lord forever
The Holy One, the Holy One
(Trust In Jesus by Third Day)

It is difficult isn’t it, sometimes if there are a number of others who have liked, I add my like to the number, but if I’m the first I just can’t do it, it doesn’t seem right.
When I do click like I try to convince myself I am appreciating not liking, if that makes sense.
      Thanks for the comment.

I like this post and have appreciated some of your others. I agree it is hard to click “like” when someone is sharing their pain, but I think it does show a sign of support. Blessings!

Thank you, I know that the Like button is a sign of support, it is just sometimes like doesn’t seem the right word, it doesn’t feel right, appreciate covers all the angles, sometimes I convince myself I’m appreciating then I can click, I just trust to hope that the writer “appreciates” my intentions.

    Hi Wayne,
Did you complain to WordPress about this? I’m going to go over to the “Contact WordPress” page and make this suggestion. I “like” this suggestion.

      Hi Robin,
Oh Heck (sorry for my Britishness) I seem to have started something here, no I haven’t complained. It is something I have struggled with before and something that struck me again today, I left some posts not knowing what to say and not wanting to “like” this morning, but I will go back now click like, I know they will read this and understand.
I didn’t think my tiny voice would shake a corporation to change, but I will back any campaign!
