Reflections

My walk this morning was a great walk, of late I have been struggling for pace, since Christmas I have struggled to match the 4.7mph walking pace I was averaging before, usually dropping down to 4.4/4.5mph, okay not much to some of you who may struggle to even contemplate that speed, but this morning I averaged a fantastic 4.8mph, I was on fire, it was hard work, but I feel like I am getting back to where I was last year.  Plus it was a great workout and will help me get back down to the weight I was before Christmas.

So after 8 miles of walking at 4.8mph, I sat at the lake and watched the sunrise, the sun didn’t bring out any of the wonderful colours it has previously, but the clouds and the aircraft trails combined with the mirror like glass of the lake to make some great images, so enjoy.

      Thanks Colleen,
The lake usually flows as it’s part of a local drainage/flood protection system, but as it hasn’t rained for a few days it was quite still, which coupled with the great clouds and airplane trails, made for some great photos, glad you enjoyed them

      Hi Diane
They do, with the almost calm lake it just made for some great images, it was a great time and place to be, loved every moment of it and I’m glad you enjoyed it too.

      Hi Conralin
Very true, completely different colour and cloud formations, made for some very different shots, but great ones, some of my favourites so far.

Lovely photographs – again – I`ve downloaded one with a view to doing a painting (when I`ve finished my commission and teaching stuff!) I`ve done a lot of sailing (yachts) and many, many night Channel crossings from Plymouth,Devon to France – seeing the sun set over the sea and watching the stars at night then watching for the dawn to break – so slowly at first – it is almost like a miracle …

      Hi Anne
Feel free to download as many as you like, I look forward to seeing the results. It is such a great feeling to sit and witness the sun rise, but the best one I have seen, to be honest, was the sight of the sun coming over the horizon when I was on a plane to Sydney, Australia, stunning.

It sounds like a really fantastic thing to witness, I not sure my sea legs are up to it though, I like being on firm ground, but never say never, as they say.

Thanks for the generous permission to use your lovely photographs. I`ve been ploughing through this commission of a Tudor manor house in Somerset (one of our sits) for a long time but it is nearly finished – I shall just go made and all `splodgy` after that.

That mirror is begging to be broken. Shattered by the ripples made from skipping stones or rather the droplets raining down from the huge splash I will make as I jump in. Of course, I would not go alone. I’d grab your hand and pull you in with me. It’s the cherry on top I could offer after a walk like that. Unexpected pleasures come from the simplest acts.

Your words are always so poetic, they have a beauty to them that I can’t describe. I can only feel. You touch my soul with your kindness and love.
