Adrift

Adrift

Sights once set upon the horizon
To the sun rising beyond the seas
A peaceful journey upon calm waters
Until the day the storm grew before the bow

Violent waves crashed all around
Until the fragile sails were torn
Ripped by the winds as the mast was broken
The anchor lost far from shore

Yet these timbers held firm through it all
Until You came and calmed the storm
At the call of Your voice
Silent fell the winds and the waves

But this vessel is empty
On an aimless drift far from home
Then upon the waters appears a radiant light
Across waves You come with open arms

Call me Lord, to step out to You across this ocean
Will I trust my steps or sink deep below
Yet with focused eyes upon You light
I know I’ll soon find safety within Your arms
