Skipping Stones

Skipping Stones

Skipping stones
Over slow rippled waters
As the ebb and flow
It makes a rhythm
Skimming the surface
Just for a moment
Taking to the air
Only to find the water once more
At the end of the line
There it sinks
With a grace
Down into the soul
Of the living water

Like my words
Flow from my heart to pen
To skim the surface
With that grace
The ink drops
Like the stone upon the water
Thoughts from my heart
In tune to a rhythm
Of the waters
At end of the line
The words sink deep into my soul
I take a second
They go deep

Another stone gathers
Thrown from the heart
In grace
With love
His words
Not mine

No heart
A stone sinks
No rhythm, no grace
Sinks within the shallows
Before it makes it ends

With words from the heart
We’re skipping stones
Ever skipping stones
