Upon A Voice

Upon A Voice

Emptiness of life within
Scaled battles raging on
Of a mind scared by diminished time
From moments lost over ages
Where traveled feet stumbled
Into shadows the lonely fear
Holding vessels of life’s ruin
To where the darkness sang aloud
A lament of torment and of shame
Ugly words for the ugly life
Open wounds where a soul bled
Scars hidden from the world’s sight
Masks worn in sunnier days
To hide all that crumbles inside
To the end the voices called
Their song of worthless imagery
To torture a soul destroyed by life

There is light
It has come
Upon a voice
Of hope for tomorrow

Anger to break the torment within
Why not the end
Is it time
Or is this where I begin
If I cannot die
Then here I have to live
It’s all changed
This world looks different
The light has changed
Shadows are diminished
It’s all changed
So can I
If I hear the voice calling me
It’s time to walk to it’s beckoning
To embrace it’s warmth
And the life within

There is a light
It has come
Upon a voice
Of hope for tomorrow
