I Remember A Time – John 16:23-24

I Remember A Time – John 16:23-24

I remember a time
I could not believe
I would not believe
Could never have asked
But the in my need
My heart was awakened
My ears opened
A mind prepared
And tongue released
I asked, I asked
Between all the tears
And He took it away
And as time passes on
Almost ten years
I’m still sober
To this very day

In The Moment – John 16:23-24

In The Moment – John 16:23-24

After I was in the light
When I had called His name
He heard and delivered me
Still the hunger within
The addiction wouldn’t die
It tried to rise again
Withdrawals raged
Pain through every bone
All muscles and joints screamed
I ached to reach
For a bottle once more
Until I asked Him to take it away
The urge all lifted
The beast within silent
All the pain
Drifted slowly away
Now days turn to weeks
And weeks into years
And I’m ever thankful
When asked
He took it all away

Voice Deep Within – John 16:23-24

Voice Deep Within – John 16:23-24

Can you hear a voice deep within
One that calls to you
Asking only for your heart
And that you would come to Him
In Christ’s name we can call
Request the desires of our heart
To ease the pain of our souls
To find the strength to rise again
So answer the voice my friend
Speak to the Father in the name of Christ
When you feel that first prayer answered
You will feel the joy complete within

The Prayer

The Prayer (John 16:23-24)

Afraid to call
There I cowered
Afraid to pray
From the place where I fell
Yet You opened the door
To let in the light
There I caught a glimpse
Of the light of Your face
My fear fell
My eyes closed
There I called Your name
Lost and afraid
Alone and weak
I just need someone
To say that they cared
I needed peace
To get through the night
And I needed strength
To make it through the day
In that moment I was found
As You answered my prayer
My sleep so sweet
Night quickly turned to day
And with a strength so great
My addiction was shattered
It fell to the ground
Like broken shards
It turned to dust
And I walked free
From the cage of my fears
Because You answered my prayer
And I began to live

Verse of the Day – John 16:23-24

John 16:23-24

John 16:23-24

It was 126 weeks ago this evening, I made my first prayer, a simple prayer for strength, just over a week later I had the strength to quit drinking.  I still find it hard to believe, on the eve of 125 weeks sober, that the very same prayer is still being answered every single day.

I ASKED YOU FOR LIFE by KIM WALKER-SMITH
I asked you for life, and you sent your son to die for me
I asked you for hope, you came in the night and gave me a dream
I asked you for freedom, you broke every chain and gave me the keys
I asked you for love never-ending and every day you surround me

And now my faith in you is a mountain that can’t be shaken
Now my strength is found in you, it is joy that can’t be taken

Praise spills from my lips, flowing onto the feet of you, my King
You deserve all the love and all the honor that I can bring

I asked you for life, and you sent your son to die for me
I asked you for hope, you came in the night and gave me a dream
I asked you for freedom, you broke every chain and gave me the keys
I asked you for love never-ending and every day you surround me

And now my faith in you is a mountain that can’t be shaken
Now my strength is found in you, it is joy that can’t be taken

Praise spills from my lips, flowing onto the feet of you, my King
You deserve all the love and all the honor that I can bring

Praise spills from my lips, flowing onto the feet of you, my King
You deserve all the love and all the honor that I can bring

Here is my song, here is my heart, here is my love, all for you, Jesus (repeat)

Holy, Holy, only You are worthy (repeat)
