Dance Within The Stream – Jeremiah 17:7-8

Dance Within The Stream – Jeremiah 17:7-8

Here I long to feel the gentle pulse
Of the ever flowing stream
These roots have been exposed so long
They’ve dried up in the drought
I hear You say it will soon be over
To trust that prosperity will come
But all I see is the dry river bed
That long since carried the stream
So here I am ready to bear fruit
When the season turns once more
No longer to be exposed to the drought
But to dance in the living waters
So I trust in You, my Lord
And renew my faith in You, my God
In hope that come the new season
We all will dance in the streams with You

Burdens

Burdens

Those heavy burdens and some light
The painful burden in the dead of the night
Those carried afar
To those found so near
Their weight burdens a soul
But can you not hear the water
Of the streams running beside you
Can you find the living waters
Beside which you can lay your burdens down
There upon the banks
Leave all that you carry
And walk into the waters
Let the waters wash you clean
The streams that run right from heaven
Where the weak will find their hope
Where the weary lay down their burdens
And all who give them their soul
Will walk free once more

Wilderness (John 7:37-38)

Wilderness (John 7:37-38)

Have we walked
Through dry lands
Desperately searching
For streams in the wilderness
To refresh our souls
To satisfy our desires
Yet we kept on searching
Never finding
Our hearts looking in wrong places
To the dry river beds
Where our lifesong once ran
Endless searching
Until upon our knees
We finally fell
Calling out to heaven’s rains
And there He was
All along
Our Christ
Our saviour
Before our eyes

Holding out His cup
Living waters for our soul
Endless life within His hands
There it was all along
Within our reach
Even in the dry lands
There in the wilderness
So why I ask
Did we take so long to see?

His Cup

His Cup (John 7:37-38)

The dry and the parched
Wanderers in the wastelands
Of empty feelings
And hearts of lost hopes
Here I call you
To lift up your eyes
And see Him before you
The glorious Son Of Man
In His hands is a cup
He has waiting for you
Now drink from His cup
Of the living waters within
And be filled with new life
As those waters flow through
And never be thirsty
Or lost in hope ever again

The Raft

THE RAFT

Lord let my feet lead me
Down to the water’s edge
Beside the flowing stream
Where there awaits before me
A simple raft for me to board

No paddle or simple oars
Just timbers bound together
No rudder there to steer a path
Without mast nor sails
To receive the crying wind

I’ll take nothing aboard
Only myself and nothing else
Pushing off from the bank
Into the flow of the river
Upon these living waters I will trust

Here the flowing soul beneath
Will lead me down the river
Over waterfalls, through ragged rocks
I’ll cling to these timbers
With all that I’ve got

When the river greets the ocean
Let me drift out over the sea
Away from all the paths
That my feet have created
Paths which keep me away from You

Take me out over the horizon
I’ll trust these waters as my guide
Until I see You standing out upon the waves
Then please call me from my safety
Where I’ll walk upon the waters to the comfort of Your arms
