West To Go East
Where am I heading?
Which way should I go?
Pulled in different directions
A confusion of life
Here I look to the east
To where the new sun rises
It’s where I am heading
To see the light slowly grow
Yet my path to the east
Although laid before
Takes many turns along the way
I wish I could fly with the crow
Take the most direct route
But that is not my life
It’s not what is planned
It’s not the route I will take
My path may head north
To where the cold winds blow
Or swing back to the south
Into the full heat of the day
And there will be times
When this path will head west
To where the shadows lie
Yet this path I must follow
I will follow my path
That He has laid out before
Through hills and valleys
Over the tallest of mountains
There will be storms and bright sun
And many rivers to cross
Yet to the east I will find the Son
And keep building my faith
Even if I head west to go east
