Strangely for a UK Bank Holiday the Sun has shone today, it’s been probably the best day of the year so far in terms of weather and also just for spending quality time with friends.
Following Church today some of our leaders organised a picnic on one of our local parks, Scone Hills. Usually I can’t make these events due to my karate classes on a Sunday afternoon, but we always cancel our Sunday class on Bank Holidays so I was free to join in the fun.
An afternoon of ultimate frisbee, rounders and football, needless to say as a 39 year old I’m now shattered, it’ll be an early night this evening that’s for sure.
But most of all it was a great time spent with some fantastic friends who have stood beside me all the way through my recovery, they stand by me still, also it was an opportunity to get to know a few people I haven’t previously connected with.
I may suffer in the morning with sunburn and aching limbs, but who cares, if that’s what you get for spending quality time with friends, then it will be well worth it.
For the song to accompany this post I choose the last song I listened to as I walked to Church this morning, it says it all really, I THANK YOU FOR LIFE.
FOR LIFE by DOWNHERE
For memories on a starlit night
North of the Denbigh line, oh Lord
For frosted pines shining like diamonds in the morning sun
For a pretty girl and for falling in love, oh love
For spring ice churning the driftwood shore
For birdsong air and windswept hair
For fiddle head strings, and flower bows
For thunder clouds rolling in a purple evening,
While Aspen leaves play tamborine,
For a soul, a song, and a voice to sing,
Just what I’m thinking
Thank You, God, for the open sky
Mysterious depths of her ocean eyes
Thank You for my dreams, my dreams
A poetry both tragic and beautiful
Thank You for life
For everything revealed to see
For what’s kept in mystery, oh Lord
From the finer things to the shirt on my back
The less I have the less I lack
For passion and all that’s within me
All that’s within me
Behind every wonder I find a clue
Beginning to believe that it’s coming true
I look onto a new rose dawn debut
Because with every breath You make me new
Before I turn it in tonight
Thank You for life
