Misery And The Bottle – Proverbs 31:6-7
My misery
No longer ties to the bottle
And the brokenness ti brought
Faded away
The beer
The wine
Seem all so distant
Not found upon this path
I walk with the Lord
With Him I find my joy
And the strength to leave my past
And the bottle no longer holds me
Released from deep within it’s grasp
Rises Within – Proverbs 31:6-7
My anguish
My misery
Flares up once again
Rises from the depths
Once again
Temptation rises
To reach for a bottle
To wash it away
like it was before
Take it O Lord
Strip me of this wanting
Let peace be the feeling
That rises within

The True Vine – Proverbs 31:6-7
I’ve drank the beer
And downed the wine in darkness
Found the perishing fear
That leads to destruction
And lived within the brokenness
Not until I taster that of the true vine
The blood of Christ
That removed my empty soul
To take the fear and destruction I clung to
And brought me to a life ever now
Now I’m yearning for the true vine once more
To renew this soul of mine
That slips in broken nights
To taste and feel alive one more time
To be renewed by the blood of Christ

This is how I fell, I drank to forget all my problems, to release myself from my anguish and distress, until I got to the point where the need to drink was more than the need to live.
Thankfully the Lord saved me from this point, He told me I was needed more than I ever knew and that there was a life within worth living.
