Rest? – Psalm 61:2-5

Rest? – Psalm 61:2-5

Are we growing tired
Or struggling with the weight
Are our souls at a low
So deep we just can’t rise
Still trying in our own strength
Pushing on to no ends
Yet still He calls out to us
For under His wings
He says we’ll find our rest

The Circle (Job 11:18)

The Circle (Job 11:18)

I’ve sat within the circle
Surrounded by only fear
I felt the circle close in
Until the fear choked my lungs

Still the Lord came to my side
And tore the walls of fear down
In His presence I could breathe again
My heart felt so secure

Now I’m at the centre of hope
All around me is His love
And here I rest in the midst of it all
Safe here beneath His wings

Travelled So Far (Proverbs 30:5)

Travelled So Far (Proverbs 30:5)

Days become harder
Our thoughts become clouded
The stresses of life
Lay a heavy burden
Upon our fragile souls
Our feet so tired
We’ve travelled so far
Now it feels we can’t go on
Yet there is a place
Our tired feet can call home
The Father’s arms
Our refuge and our shield
A place to find peace
Beside the glory of the Son
A place for tired hearts
To finally feel new

The Night

The Night (Exodus 33:14)

When I was afraid
Those nights I was alone
A forgotten man
Forgotten by myself
I called out
Whispered Your name
In the dead of the night
My prayer You heard
My question
My request
So tired and weary
Little sleep over time
I needed You this night
And You answered my call
Calmed a restless heart
And You whispered to me
My presence is with you
And I give you rest

Rest And Peace

Rest And Peace (Matthew 11:28)

Are we so tired?
Broken from the toil
Worn and weary
From the fight each day
Yet we hear His voice
It calls to us
To come to Him
He pleads for us
To turn to Him

He is our peace
He is our rest

So let us go to Him
And lay down our burdens
And rest in the peace He gives

In Your Peace

In Your Peace (Psalm 4:8)

From the centre of the storm
You welcomed me to Your shelter
When chaos reigned
In the light of Your face
It faded from view
From heaven Your peace flowed
And settled over me
In the face of it all
I slept in Your peace
In the house of Your love
Where I rest in Your safety

You Came

You Came (Psalm 3:5)

When I called to You
As I lied there
Under deepest shadows
With an empty heart
You answered
You came

When I couldn’t find sleep
As the nights dragged on
And morning came too soon
I called out for peace
You answered
You came

Now I lie down
Now I sleep in perfect peace
And when the new sun rises
I wake anew because
You answered
You came

Verse of the Day – Proverbs 19:23

Proverbs 19:23

Proverbs 19:23

Whatever you may be going through, good times or bad, may the Lord give us all peaceful and satisfied sleep.

GIVE YOU PEACE by ECHOING ANGELS
I see you lying their whispering prayers
I hear you breathing out hollowed be thy name
Holding out my hand catching every tear
Oh my child I’ll never leave your side

I will give you peace when the walls come crashing down
I will give you peace through the night
When you’ve had all you can take can’t face another day
I’ll give you peace, I’ll give you peace

For such a time as this I have you here
Chosen for the lost to show I’m near
Through your brokenness my glory shines
And through your frailty my strength will rise

I will give you peace when the walls come crashing down
I will give you peace through the night
When you’ve had all you can take can’t face another day
I’ll give you peace, I’ll give you peace

Your beautiful, your beautiful
Perfect in my sight
Righteousness adorns you my bride
Your beautiful, so beautiful

I will give you peace when the walls come crashing down
I will give you peace through the night
When you’ve had all you can take can’t face another day
I’ll give you peace, I’ll give you peace

Verse of the Day – Psalm 55:5-6

Psalm 55:5-6

Psalm 55:5-6

This time last year I had fallen deep into those fears and the trembling, I was so set in those fears and depression, I never stopped to listen to the Lord and feel His peace come over me.

Sometimes, we just have to take a step back and rest in Him.

I heard this song this morning, the lyrics are perfect for this post.

SLEEP AND DREAMS by CHARLIE HALL
Close your eyes, it’s time to sleep
The day is done and it’s the time to breathe and dream
I pray that bands of angels fill your room
And the songs of God would come, consume you

Rest your head on hallelujahs
Rest your head on all God is
Rest your head, the day is done
And now it’s time to sleep

And put your mind on things above
And let your heart be filled with faith and hope, and love
I pray that bands of angels fill your room
And the songs of God would come, consume you

Rest your head on hallelujahs
Rest your head on all God is
Rest your head, the day is done
And now it’s time to sleep

Rest your head on hallelujahs
Rest your head on all God is
Rest your head, the day is done
And now it’s time to sleep

Rest your heads on hallelujahs
May the God of dreams come and fill your sleep
And may the God of dreams come and fill your sleep

Rest your heads on hallelujahs
May the God of hope come and fill your soul
May the God of hope come and fill your soul

Rest your heads on hallelujahs
May the peace of Christ come and fill your life
May the peace of Christ come and fill your life

Rest your heads on hallelujahs
If you’re yearning, if you’re thirsty
Child, come

Rest your heads on hallelujahs
Rest your heads on hallelujahs
Rest your heads on hallelujahs
Rest your heads on hallelujahs

Rest your heads on hallelujahs
Rest your heads on hallelujahs
Rest your heads on hallelujahs
Rest your heads on hallelujahs

Rest your heads on hallelujahs
On hallelujahs
Rest your heads on hallelujahs

Verse of the Day – Psalm 37:7

Psalm 37:7

Psalm 37:7

Three weeks without any anti-depressents, it’s been a little up and down and I feel so tired on top of a bad day at work, but for now I rest in him, ready to rise again tomorrow.

HERE I AM ANYWAY by JOSH WILSON
I’m like Moses in the desert
When that bush went up in flames.
You said, “Go and tell your story.”
He said, “God, what will I say?
I’m so scared, unprepared
What difference will I make?”
Sometimes I feel the same.

If it’s weakness that You want,
I’ve got more than enough.
But some days I am so afraid
To show this fragile love.
But I’ll give You all of me
And my insecurities.
God I don’t have what it takes,
But here I am anyway.
Here I am anyway.

God, I’ve got so many questions,
Wonder why You placed me here.
You have given me these passions,
But they come with so much fear.
Sometimes it don’t make sense at all
But I guess if I was brave
Then I wouldn’t walk by faith.

If it’s weakness that You want,
I’ve got more than enough.
But some days I am so afraid
To show this fragile love.
But I’ll give You all of me
And my insecurities.
God I don’t have what it takes,
But here I am anyway.
Here I am anyway.

If You say go (If You say go, if You say go)
I won’t say no (I won’t say no, I won’t say no)
If You say go (If You say go, if You say go)
I won’t say no (I won’t say no, I won’t say no)

Cause it’s weakness that You want,
That’s how You show Your love.
Your power is made perfect,
When we are not enough.

If it’s weakness that You want,
I’ve got more than enough.
But some days I am so afraid
To show this fragile love.
But I’ll give You all of me
And my insecurities.
God I don’t have what it takes,
But here I am anyway.
Here I am anyway.
Here I am anyway, anyway.
Here I am anyway, anyway.
