Rags – Galatians 3:26-29

Rags – Galatians 3:26-29

What are these rags I wear?
These aren’t the ones
Of a being clothed in Christ
How did I allow them to be so tainted
By the dust and dirt
Of my continual sin
If I am baptised in Christ
Why do I allow myself to wear these rags
With it all my dust and dirt
For I am set free and no longer a slave

Lose Ourselves – 1 Thessalonians 4:4-5

Lose Ourselves – 1 Thessalonians 4:4-5

Do we lose ourselves?
To the desires
Of this corrupted world
Letting the flesh sin
With our wrongful lust

Or do we give ourselves?
To the One who died for us
Whose body holy and honourable
Took the scars of our sin
To wash our flesh clean

And Thousands More – Psalm 32:5

And Thousands More – Psalm 32:5

Two thousand times
And thousands more
I’ve fallen to my knees
Before You Lord
My face so fallen
Where tears so well
In broken voice
I confess it all
This is my sin
I’m sorry
It’s who I am
I try
I try
Still I fail
A human heart
Beneath it all
Bound to fail
Yet still to grow
And how many times?
Two thousand times
And thousands more
You place a hand
On shoulder tight
And forgive my sin
Once again
A broken child
Before the loving Father
I let it out
My sorry flow
And You forgive it all
With love so great
But how many times?
On knee shall I fall
With tales of sins
Stories of woe
And how many times?
Will You forgive it all
Two thousand times
And thousands more

New Beginnings – Mark 11:25-26

New Beginnings – Mark 11:25-26

Time passes by
We all move on
Yet can we learn
To forget
Just as our Lord
Has forgotten our sins
He wiped us clean
Gave us a new beginning
So as time passes by
Can we forgive our brothers
Setting aside their sin
Wiping clean the slate
And can we pray for them
Before the Father
Pray they might find Him
And their new beginning

I Am Not Perfect – Luke 11:4

I Am Not Perfect – Luke 11:4

For I am not perfect
I fall and I fail
My Lord forgive my sins
It’s the weakness in me
That leads me astray
Let me also forgive those
That sin against me
Let me not retaliate
With sin for sin
Lord remove the temptations
That place sin before me
Let me be washed clean
As I seek the glory of You Lord

Dirt – Romans 12:14-16

Dirt – Romans 12:14-16

Who are we to turn
Our backs to all
That just do not know
The truth that lies in Him
Or just what a sacrifice
He made upon that cross
Are we afraid of the dirt
That they carry in their souls
For we were once in dirt too
As we languished in our sin
Yet we have been washed clean
Over and over again
And we will be again
So shed that cloak so proud
And offer a hand
Regardless of the dirt
To lift them from their pit
And show them the face of God

To The Cross

To The Cross

To the cross He carried the tree of our burden
To the cross He carried the weight of our shame
Every lash upon His flesh in place of our sin

The eyes of the world looked upon our saviour
Only the few bowed heads and called His holy name
Still there will come a day
This my heart truly believes
This world takes to its knees
Before the wonder of that cross
To call His mighty name
The name above all names
Of Jesus Christ our saviour

To the cross He carried the tree of our burden
To the cross He carried the weight of our shame
Every lash upon His flesh in place of our sin

Upon the cross He gave His life
So we could forever truly live

Upon The Cross (Galatians 5:23-24)

Upon The Cross (Galatians 5:23-24)

There it was upon the cross
My sins were hung there with the One
He took it all upon that tree
The pain of death so we could be free

Unto us all came the spirit
Our guide through a life so blessed
A way to live under Heaven’s skies
A life with our Lord the ultimate prize

Lord Of Mercy

Lord Of Mercy (Psalm 51:1-2)

Lord of mercy
You shower us
In unfailing love
With a heart of great compassion
You wipe us clean
Of our sin
Wash away the dirt
Of all our iniquity
Our transgressions
Are all forgotten
By the gift of Your grace
Now we lift You high
Sing a song of Your love
A tune of thankful praise
To the Lord of mercy

Holding On

Holding On (Isaiah 43:25)

Why do I carry this weight
How can I refuse to lay it down
Or forgive my own self
What I did
I know is done
Who I was
I know is gone
But I can’t let go of the pain
And it hurts
It just continues to hurt

Yet You my Lord
You are He
The One who forgives
You who blot out
You who remembers on more
All of who I was
And every one of my sins
Yet I still hold on
Please help me to let go
So I can live free once again
