Verse of the Day – Psalm 102:1-2

Psalm 102:1-2

Psalm 102:1-2

As this week has gone on and day by day I recover more movement with less pain, I can definitely say the the Lord has not hidden His face from me, He has answered my prayers.

YOU CAME (LAZARUS) by JONATHON DAVID & MELISSA HELSER
You stood outside my grave
With tears still on Your face
I heard You say my name
My night was turned to day

You came
I knew that You would come
You sang
My heart it woke up
I’m not afraid, I see Your face
I am alive
You came
I knew that You would come

You said death’s only sleeping
With one word my heart was beating
I rose up from my grave
My fear was turned to faith

You came
I knew that You would come
You sang
My heart it woke up
I’m not afraid, I see Your face
I am alive
You came
I knew that You would come

You are, a miracle-working God
You are, a miracle-working God
You are, a miracle-working God
You are, a miracle-working God
You are, a miracle-working God
You are, a miracle-working God

You are, a miracle-working God
You are, a miracle-working God
You are, a miracle-working God
A miracle-working God!

You came
I knew that You would come
You sang
My heart it woke up
I’m not afraid, I see Your face
I am alive
You came
I knew that You would come
You came
I knew that You would come
You sang
My heart it woke up
I’m not afraid, I see Your face
I am alive
You came
I knew that You would come
You came
I knew that You would come

You turn my fear into faith
You raise me up from the grave
You turn my fear into faith
You raise me up from the grave

You came
You came
You came
I knew You would come

A Thoroughly Embarrassed Doctor

Last week I made an appointment to see a Doctor, after suffering for a few weeks with a sore throat and also needing to renew my blood pressure medication, I thought I would get that renewed and see if they could do anything for my throat.

He renewed my medication, despite not having any tablets for over a month, my blood pressure wasn’t that bad, considering that I hadn’t been feeling great for a while, but it seemed that there was nothing that the Doctor could give me for my throat, he said antibiotics wouldn’t help, so I had to just keep suffering with it and it could be a number of weeks until it got better.

Great so I asked if there was anything that I could buy over the counter that could help, the Doctor suggested the following….

Honey and lemon and Covonia cough medicine would all help as decongestants and then he suggested he takes a “drop of whisky” that usually helps too!!!!

My reply:

If you had read my notes, you would see I am a recovering alcoholic, so I don’t think I will follow that advice.

I watched him squirm in his chair somewhat and then mutter a congratulations for being sober and that he didn’t condone that I follow his advice either!

So not particularly helpful at all to be honest.  I wasn’t offended by his suggestion, just a little shocked at the advice, seeing as it is definitely recorded that I was an alcoholic, due to previous kidney tests when I stopped drinking, the first tests came back abnormal, until they eventually recorded normal results, so I was indeed surprised and he looked thoroughly embarrassed, maybe he should take the time to read my record next time!

When I look at this now, I actually find it quite funny, I guess I kind of liked watching him squirm in his chair, looking all embarrassed.  Although in the end, these Doctors are under so much pressure to see so many people in a day, they haven’t the time to check the records of everyone they see, needless to say, I have not taken his advice with regard to a “drop of whisky”, I’ve just made 240 weeks sober, I am not stopping now!!!!

As it happens, the throat is now not so bad, but I have a cough and I am notorious for carry a cough for months, as my Connect Group pointed out on Wednesday, indeed I coughed my way through the meeting.

So for now, I will just keep going!

I love this song, so true.
