Congratulations on your sobriety! It’s a true accomplishment. You’ve chosen some great inspirational music. Are you familiar with Redeemed by Big Daddy Weave? I can’t get enough of it. The entire song touches me, especially these lyrics:

“But when I hear you whisper “child lift up your head”
I remember oh God you’re not done with me yet”

“Because I don’t have to be the old man inside of me
’cause his day is long dead and gone because
I’ve got a new name, a new life I’m not the same
and a hope that will carry me home

I am redeemed, You set me free
So I’ll shake off these heavy chains and
    Wipe away every stain
Cause I’m not who I used to be”

So… I am way picky about songs and will admit that I find most Christian music cheesy. But actually like a lot of the songs you have listed. I recently fell in love with the song “Worn”, Tenth Ave North. But then the lead singer says in an interview that the story behind the song was being so worn out when his baby was born. Dude… Um… looking for way more meaning than that. I get it, been there, but really? No other difficult life experiences? Now I can’t even listen to it because it seems SO shallow. It might have killed Tenth Avenue North for me.

What I actually meant to write, before I killed “Worn” for you in case you like/might like it… Jaeson Ma. Think you would like him. TOTALLY unexpected. Conservative and pretty inspiring Asian pastor who doesn’t sound like any of the aforementioned. Well, he does but in an unexpected way. Except the pastor part, def doesn’t sound like any pastor I’ve met. My favorite is either “Love” or “Glory”. You’d have to listen to it, he’s hard to explain. Bruno Mars was featured in one of his first songs, Love. Then a few months later I guess Bruno turned to “the dark side”.

Thanks for following and the “like”! I’m not perfect by any means. But, as you probably saw… am not too boring. And very real. 🙂

      Hi Mandi
Thank you for visiting. I am a fan of Worn, but I understand the singers comment was disappointing, but I have heard them explain it in more detail elsewhere, but obviously I love Tenth Avenue North, they mean a lot to me in my journey.
I will check our Jaeson Ma, I’ve not heard of him before, so I will try to take a listen, although I am not a fan of Bruno Mars.
I look forward to reading more of your blog as time allows and hope you come back and visit again,

I also am NOT a Bruno Mars fan. I don’t get how he can pair with a Christian guy and sing a CLEARLY Christian song, then talk about love the way he does now. Very sad. Bruno is ONLY in that first song, he switched over right after that.

I’m going to look more into the “Worn” thing. I LOVED that song, it seemed so real. A Christian not wearing a mask, admitting that sometimes they don’t even have it in them to pray. It didn’t end with “but now everything is awesome!”. I posted it the day I heard it, I could relate with it so closely especially at that moment. I WANT to like it again so I’ll look. Thanks for telling me!

I really like this page. It makes it easier to see the music instead of having to look at each post. Might have to try something like this some day 🙂

      Hi Ann
I haven’t updated it in a while, I was going to revamp it, I did start the background work, but it was a long process, I have used so many songs now it really does need doing, I just don’t get the time, but I will.
